Get $35 for your spare, working fridge or freezer!
Ameren Missouri can now help you lower your monthly energy bills and pay you to do it! Right now, they are providing a $35 rebate to recycle your spare, working refrigerator or freezer. The appliance is even picked up, free of charge, and properly recycled.
While that old appliance in the basement or garage may provide additional storage, it’s not worth the additional cost on your electric bill. Recycling appliances also leads to an enormous reduction in both energy consumption and emissions of ozone-depleting substances and greenhouse gases. During the first 5 months of the program, Ameren Missouri was able to successfully recycle approximately 1,114,592 pounds of metal, plastic and glass.

• Each old refrigerator or freezer requires an average of 700 to 1,600 kilowatt-hours to operate annually.
• If a spare refrigerator used in a basement or garage is removed and not replaced, energy savings can amount to 1,200 kWh/year, with a $100 reduction in annual electricity charges.*

How to Participate…
• You must be an Ameren Missouri residential electric customer.
• You must own the refrigerator or freezer and it must be 10-27 cubic feet.
• Appliance must be manufactured prior to 2002.
• Appliance must be in working (cooling) order.
• Appliance must be plugged in the night prior to pickup.
• Your appliance will be picked up, at no charge, from the address listed on your billing account.
• The $35 rebate will be mailed to you four to six weeks after the pickup of your appliance(s).
• Limit of 3 appliances per household per year.
